Cost-optimized custom solution with parabolic mirror for radar & anti-drone systems

The positioning system with rotary stage is designed for applications requiring precise target tracking, high stability, and reliable continuous operation. Its robust mechanics, high stiffness, and perfectly uniform rotation make it ideal for aligning radar antennas, sensors, and anti-drone modules.

For radar and anti-drone systems, a flat, continuously rotating rotary axis with a large clear aperture is essential to align sensors, antenna modules, or optical detection units. A direct drive ensures long-lasting, low-maintenance 24/7 performance demanded by modern surveillance and UAV-detection architectures. As no suitable motor solutions are available in this compact form factor, a specially developed PCB assembly integrates both drive and angular scale. Omitting classic thin-section bearings and separate angle-measurement systems reduces costs without compromising the functionality required for tracking and scanning tasks.

Options:

  • Thin-section or wire-race bearings: flat, low-friction support for low-vibration radar and sensor rotation
  • Air-bearing version: extremely smooth running for high speeds and fast 360° scans
  • Brake, rotation limiter, hard stop: secure position hold and protection against unintended endless rotation
  • Air purge, extraction, integrated cable routing: clean mechanics and reliable operation even during continuous rotation

Motion controller optionally external or integrated in the housing

The required magnet arrangement is integrated into the rotary table. Wire-race bearings with a dedicated relubrication concept are used. The housing features flexure structures enabling system mounting on uneven surfaces. Depending on the application, the system can be configured with an external controller or a controller integrated directly into the housing.
