Air Bearing
Air bearings combine outstanding operating parameters in terms of flatness, waviness and straightness at the same time with high speeds and accelerations.
The bearing is floating on an air gap approximately five micron thick and operates practically without contact and wear. This guarantees a very long lifetime. Especially for measuring tasks air bearings are very suitable, provided that a supply of compressed air is available. They are suitable for positioning solutions with repeatability less than 1 micron
